"Most of us will take so many journeys in our life times. So many people, places, nature and skies, each one painted with their own unique colours. However the most amazing journey of all, the most perplexing, difficult and fascinating is the one that takes us back to the core of our own hearts. To who we truly are below all the layers of trauma and pain that come as a parcel of being human"

My name is Neliona Moutsou, and I am an integrative counsellor specialising in trauma, anxiety & narcissistic abuse. I am the founder of Journey to the Heart Counselling, where I offer in-person therapy in Edinburgh as well as online counselling to individuals across the UK.

If you are here, you may be feeling stuck or overwhelmed at this point in your life. Perhaps you have lived with anxiety for many years and are familiar with its intense and often frightening symptoms. You may be experiencing intrusive thoughts, disrupted sleep, or a sense of disconnection from yourself or the world around you.

Anxiety can also manifest physically, showing up as persistent tension in the chest, throat, or stomach. You may be struggling with ongoing sadness, low self-esteem, or a loss of identity that makes it difficult to connect with others or find motivation. Life transitions can bring fear, uncertainty, and self-doubt, leaving you feeling lost or unsure of your direction. You may also be living with the effects of trauma, including distressing flashbacks or painful memories that feel difficult to escape.

If any of this resonates with you, please know that you are not alone. Through my own lived experience of trauma and anxiety, I understand how deeply these challenges can affect your sense of self and create feelings of isolation. Living with anxiety can be exhausting and can lead to believing that something is “wrong” with you or that you are not good enough.

I want to gently reassure you that there is nothing broken about you. Your mind and body are responding in ways that once helped you survive, and they may now be signalling a need for care, understanding, and healing.

If you feel ready to take the next step, I am here to support you. Together, we can work towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful, lasting change—helping you reconnect with yourself and move forward with compassion and confidence.

How I can help

II take a holistic approach to counselling, supporting the whole person—mind, emotions, body, soul, and spirit. As a highly sensitive and intuitive counsellor, my intention is to create a space where you feel genuinely safe, supported, and at ease.

Together, we will gently explore the parts of you that are carrying pain, the emotions that need to be acknowledged, and the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself and the world. Guided by intuition and attuned presence, our work will unfold at a pace that feels right for you, allowing what is ready to surface to do so naturally.

Our work may include exploring the subconscious mind and the layers beneath the surface. This can involve identifying parts of you that have experienced trauma, recognising limiting beliefs formed in childhood, and understanding how these patterns continue to influence your relationship with yourself and others.

Together, we will compassionately uncover the fears that keep your heart guarded and the self-perceptions that no longer serve you. This work offers an opportunity to release old narratives and move toward a more authentic, self-compassionate way of being.

I have particular experience and frequently work with individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma and attachment trauma

  • Trauma related to racial discrimination

  • Depression

  • Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse

  • Narcissistic abuse

  • Loss of identity or sense of self

  • Difficulties with connection and relationships

  •

You do not have to navigate this journey alone. If any part of this     resonates with you, I warmly invite you to reach out.
