My dear fellow humans, we live in some wonderful times in the history of humanity. We also live in some terrible times. The dichotomy is always so deeply rooted and prevalent in this beautiful planet. Have you felt the shift in the air in the last few years perhaps more present in the after covid era? I have certainly felt the drastic shift- like a heavy cloud that is difficult to lift from my body and my life. As a mental health professional, I have also witnessed this in so many other humans. The post covid era brought up a wave of distress that has been difficult to shift. It feels like the shadow that has been lurking for so many years in the underground, in the guts of the earth has now come to the surface and is here to be seen. And many of us can feel this in such a deep, visceral level. We feel this individually and we feel this collectively.
These have been some difficult times and usually we are so focused on the microcosm of our own individual lives that we forget that the collective energy, the energy of the earth and the cosmos are closely connected to us as individuals. We are all connected to each other after all and we affect each other in such profound ways.
The last few years have been difficult in the arena of the western microcosm. A pandemic, war, the invention of AI, a genocide and severe political unrest that instead of aiming to bridge the gap between humans, it spreads dichotomy. It widens the division. It aims to control and manipulate. We humans may feel this like something trying to grip and tighten the control around our heart. It feels heavy, contracted, difficult to breath and suppressed. it feels fearful.
So what can we do in such times you may ask. How can we bring lightness into this body that feels so heavy, into the heart that feels so pained and fearful? Something that has worked for me in this very human and non expert space would be this:
Put your feet on the ground and breath. Breathe slowly, breath evenly. Feel the oxygen in your lungs, travelling through your body. Connect to the heart of Mother Earth, the heart of Gaia. And allow her to connect to your human heart. Imagine your heart as a ball of eternal light in the middle of your chest. An eternal source of love. An eternal source of peace and safety. Your heart is your home and you are home now in your body, within yourself, within mother earth, within cosmos. You, dear human, are an eternal source of light. Allow that place of light and grounding to become your centre. We need to find grounding and refuge within ourselves in these shaky and disegulating times.
You are eternally worthy.
